For Celebrity Edge, Starboard Cruise Services created a sophisticated, high-impact lookbook showcasing the many unique brands and collections in our onboard shops. Much of our assortment was chosen to align with Celebrity Edge’s themes of female empowerment and social responsibility. They included keepsakes celebrating the ship’s godmother, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai; and exclusive Celebrity logo merchandise from brands promoting environmental care. Starboard also created a custom jewelry collection made from the first cut of steel from the ship’s construction.
I wrote all the copy for the lookbook, including a telephone interview with entrepreneur Jo Malone, founder of the global fragrance brand Jo Loves.
Onboard Media’s inaugural books for Carnival have included the two ships of the Vista Class, which will welcome a third ship, Carnival Panorama, in fall 2019. We have also published books for the transformation of Carnival Sunshine (2013) and Carnival Sunrise (2019).
Onboard Media was hired to produce a book for the 20th anniversary of the FCCA’s Caribbean cruise conference. The book presented profiles of the organization’s member ports, as a celebration of the destinations that are the core of the FCCA’s mission. The book required close coordination with the FCCA and its member ports, including gathering images and editing copy supplied by the ports.
In 2012, Onboard Media published the history of Carnival Corporation & plc and the 10 cruise lines in its portfolio at the time. The art director and I worked closely with Carnival’s corporate communications manager to gather archival images of each cruise line. I hired a freelance writer to create the copy, which required careful coordination with each cruise line.
